HOW TO CONQUER STRESS EVERYDAY

During a strenuous workday, the rate of oxygen consumption increases, mobilization of stored energy ensue, rate of blood flow increases and rate of metabolism (energy metabolism) increases as well. As the body's metabolism increases, there is also an increase in the generation of reactive oxygen species also known as free radicals.
Free radicals are highly reactive species such as superoxide anion... that have potentials to attack biomolecles and oxidize it. One of the molecle that can be oxidized by this species is lipoprotien which, when oxidized become substrate for macrophage and thereby activate another signal pathway in the body.

Oxidized lipoprotein are risk factores for artheriosclerosis. Secondly, free radicals also attack the membrane of erythrocyte thereby desrupting the erythrocyte which leads to the lyses of the cell. Another pathway also shows that stress increases adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) secretion which results in increased cortisol secretion. Increased plasma cortisol levels are characteristic of stress reaction whether it be of physical, mental or emotional origin.
Eaten vegetables and fruits (such as cucumber and green leafy vegetables) that are rich in antioxidants everyday help to combat the effects of free radicals in the body thereby reducing the risk effects.
